Water Purification Now With Cactus

The cactus garden hold in reality can be used as a water purifier, according to a new study. The agent is in nopal cactus, has the ability to clear the water of sediment and bacteria in a matter of minutes.

Buzz up!
To test this scientist Norma Alcantar investigated the cactus, Opuntia ficus-indica.

Extracted cactus mucilage, which is a thick paste that the plant used to store water. This paste was diluted with water with high levels of any sediment or bacteria Bacillus cereus.

Alcantar found that mucilage acted as a flocculant. The agent had caused all together and sediments settle to the bottom of the water. The gum also caused sediment particles to settle.

Alcántara, revealed that this process made 98% water bacteria free. Alcantar said: "The cactus is the prevalence, affordability and cultural acceptance make it an attractive material for natural water purification technologies."

This natural form of water purification in the process also dissolves many of the values of nutrients. A cactus has almost all the nutrients that are present in leafy vegetables
, Like vitamins and minerals. Purified water cactus extract is enriched in potassium, magnesium
, Calcium, iron and vitamins A and C.
