The teenagers talk more to parents about their dating habits than men, according to a new study.
Moreover, both sexes generally prefer to speak with their mothers.
However, the new study found that girls and boys are equally close to the mouth on issues related to sex and what they do with their dates without supervision. And in this case, adolescents were no more eager to talk to their mothers than they were their fathers.
The results showed that the amount of information to the parents know their teens about dating depends on a variety of topics, including age, gender, and what aspect of dating the subject involves.
"Many parents are frustrated because they feel the lack of communication with your teens is a test of the distance increases or decreases the influence," said Christopher Daddis, co-author of the study and assistant professor of psychology at Ohio State University in Marion.
"What we found is that teens are willing to talk with their parents on some issues, but problems can be changed as they grow and feel more autonomous."
The research was published in a recent issue of the Journal of Adolescence.
The study included a survey of 222 adolescents in grade 9 and 12 at a high school in Ohio.
